Seattle City Councilmember Calls for Prioritizing North & South CID Stations in Ballard Light Rail Extension Proposal
Seattle City Councilmember Tammy J. Morales has called for a proposed light rail extension to Ballard to prioritize the “North & South CID Station options” over the option of building the stations at Fourth and Fifth avenues, citing potential neighborhood disruption and displacement concerns. The Sound Transit Board will vote on the preferred alternative on March 23.
Dan Strauss Pushes for Long-Awaited Completion of Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link in Ballard
Councilmember Dan Strauss is urging for the completion of the Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link along Leary Ave NW and 17th Ave NW in Ballard, which has been a three-decades-long battle between the City and local businesses. Strauss wants the City to create a feasibility study for the alternate alignment on Leary and 17th, and reach a 30% design in the next six months.

Seattle's light rail expansion is not what many had originally thought, as the current spine will be broken to accommodate future routes, Ballard and West Seattle are separate projects, and $54 billion is not enough to build the entire system. Trains from the north will come through the existing downtown tunnel, while trains starting in Everett will go to West Seattle as the Link 3 Line, and those from Ballard will go to SeaTac and south as the Link 1 Line.

Breaking: Detective shot while responding to barricaded person in Ballard
A King County Sheriff's detective is in critical condition after being shot while responding to a report of a barricaded person in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. The scene has been declared secure and an investigation is ongoing.
Roof Collapse at Ballard Jack in the Box Sparks Investigation
A fire at the Ballard Jack in the Box caused the roof to collapse and firefighters were unable to enter due to safety concerns of falling debris. No injuries were reported, and the incident is currently under investigation.
