Seattle City's Disappearing Tree Canopy: An Area the Size of Green Lake Lost, Highlighting Racial and Economic Injustices

More:

Seattle's latest tree canopy assessment has revealed that the city has lost a net 255 acres of canopy, an area roughly the size of Green Lake, and is trending in the wrong direction towards achieving its goal of 30% coverage by 2037. The assessment suggests that the city's least forested areas are losing canopy most rapidly, and that losses are not happening equitably, with neighborhoods most impacted by racial and economic injustice losing the most canopy.
