The Sky Is Gray Enough As It Is label maker sticker was seen outside a Capitol Hill store and Bless, spotted outside a vintage streetwear store, will bring the energy into the weekend. An eerie image outside South Lake Union even reminded editor JK of Dr. TJ Eckleburg's eyes from 'The Great Gatsby'.
Brightline to Receive Siemens Mobility Trainset while CHSRA Misses Out on Funding; OIG Audit Finds Flaws in Seattle's South Lake Union Connector Project
Brightline on Feb 11 reported via Twitter that its new Siemens Mobility trainset is rolling towards its Florida destination. Meanwhile, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) was unable to receive more than 1.2 billion from USDOT's Multimodal Project Disciplinary Grant program. Lastly, an audit by USDOT's Office of Inspector General founds insufficient oversight in the management of Seattle's transportation funds for the five-mile, 23-station Center City Connector joining the existing South Lake Union and First Hill Streetcar lines.

Man Arrested and Charged with Rape, Robbery, and Burglary in South Lake Union
Isaiah David Weston, 30, has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree robbery, and burglary after allegedly following a woman home from South Lake Union, entering her apartment with a knife, and raping her. He is also accused of stealing her green card, three credit cards, and a Louis Vuitton purse. Weston has been detained in King County Jail with bail set at $750,000, and the prosecutors have requested that he be released to home detention if he posts bond, along with ordering a protection order for the woman.
Alarm in South Lake Union: 31-Year-Old Male Robbed at Gunpoint, Red Toyota Camry Stolen
Seattle Police responded to a carjacking in South Lake Union Thursday night at 11 pm. A 31-year-old male was robbed at gunpoint and had his van stolen by two women. The suspect vehicle was a red Toyota Camry and the victim's a white Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van. Police did find the victim's cell phone near the 100 block of Dexter Avenue North. Anyone with further information is asked to contact SPD’s Violent Crimes Tip Line.

Car Accident Tragedy Strikes Indian Students: Likitha Pinnum Fights for Life in Arkansas and Northeastern University's Jhanvi Kandula Loses Life in Seattle Crash.
An Indian student, Likitha Pinnum, was badly injured in a car accident in Arkansas recently and is currently fighting for her life in a hospital. Her family set up a GoFundMe page to help her receive medical treatment and has so far raised $99,659 of their $150,000 goal. Jhanvi Kandula, another 23-year-old Indian student studying at the South Lake Union campus of Northeastern University, lost her life in a road accident in Seattle two weeks ago. Officials cited icy conditions in the Southern Plains as the cause of Jhanvi's fatal crash.

Google is building its own computer chips set to be used in its data centers by 2024. The facility is based in South Lake Union, and the chips are produced using 5nm process technology. This could put Google on the same level as Amazon and Microsoft when it comes to cloud services. TSMC is currently testing the Marvell chips and results are expected in 2024.
